When necessary, instructions and manuals will be translated in English for the foreign student. Therefore, a good knowledge in English is a requirement. During the year there are about ten lectures in the history of arts and crafts. The lectures will be held in Swedish. You must have reached the age of 18 before the day of the roll call on August, 14 th, 2012. In order to apply for course entrance at Nyckelviksskolan, the applicant must have upper secondary school qualifications (high school education), equivalent education or have gained a certain amount of work experience. If you apply for more than one programme you must turn in a separate set of work samples for each program. One of the drawings is a mandatory task. This year the mandatory task is a drawing of the theme: "a chair back home from three different angles". It is important that you hand in the accurate number of sample works and that the obligatory assignment is included, in order for your application to be accepted. The material for your drawings is optional – graphite, indian ink, carbon or crayon. The drawings should be made on paper. The painting material is also optional – oil, acrylic, gouache, watercolour, pastel chalk or spray colour. The paintings should be made on canvas, board or paper. We prefer all these work samples to be originals. VOLUNTARY WORK SAMPLES Other work samples that you would like to show, apart from the obligatory ones, may be made in optional materials or be based on your own choice of techniques. Maybe you want to show more drawings and paintings and digital works. These work samples doesn’t have to be presented as originals - paper copies or photographs are accepted. Three-dimensional work - such as jewelry, ceramics, furniture, clothing or sculpture - may be displayed as photos. Include information about the size, material and technique used on the work samples that are presented as a copy or photo (mounted on cardboard). MOUNTING AND LABELING OF WORK SAMPLES The work samples should be mounted on up to six steady cardboards with the maximum size of 50x70 centimeters. Only display your works on the front of the cardboards. You may place more than one work on each cardboard. Make sure that each cardboard has your name and address on the backside. It is possible to enclose paintings on splined canvas, stapled stretched canvas or on canvas board. One canvas painting will then be accepted as equivalent to one cardboard. The school doesn’t accept work samples that have a glass frame or that exceeds the maximum size. Work samples larger than 50x70cm (maximum size) may be presented as photographs on a paper copy and can be regarded as obligatory work samples. Always state the original size, material and technique used. APPLICANTS FOR THE PROGRAM GRAPHIC DESIGN AND ILLUSTRATION MUST MAKE AN ADDITIONAL TASK Make a logo or brand to a fictitious record label: "BRICK RECORDS". The word "records" may have a secondary role, stand less of itself if you want. The record company is a small independent company with young, new artists and groups that provide the music, primarily on vinyl. You should make at least a logo. Show sketches and "process" not only the final result. You can apply it on an album cover, a T-shirt or maybe a bag. Use the material of your own choice: pencil, marker pen, paste or use the computer. We will judge the execution as well as your ideas. SAMPLES OF WORK DEADLINE - MAY 24th 2012 The work samples should have arrived at the school no later than May, 24th 2012. You may hand in your samples personally at Nyckelviksskolan (Granvägen 1 and 3, Lidingö) during Thursday, May 24th, from 8.00 until 19.00. Please note that this is the only day when you can deliver your work samples in person. It is also possible to send your work samples by post but it of utmost importance to post it in due time. Work samples that arrive by post or express deliveries at the school later than May, 24th are not accepted. COLLECT YOUR WORK SAMPLES - JUNE 4th or 5th 2012 The work samples may be collected at Nyckelviksskolan on Monday June, 4th from 10.00 until 19.00 or on Tuesday June, 5th from 10.00 until 19.00. We no longer send back work samples by mail. Therefore, please arrange pick up if you can not download the performance tests yourself. If that is impossible, remember that we do not require you to submit original works! The work samples that are not collected at the appointed time will be discarded. SPECIALIST CRAFT TUTOR - two-year program
ELIGIBILITY In order to apply for course entrance, applicants must have upper secondary school (high school education) qualifications or the equivalent with complete certificates in Swedish, English and Mathematics. They must also have one year of documented work experience, nine months of which should be within one of the caring professions (health care sector, child or elder care, school, or other social activities). Part-time jobs can be re-counted to correspond to a full-time job. All applicants will need to prove their artistic aptitude by submitting samples of art work.
